FUSED4 is the name the young adults of the four parishes of Region 2 (St. James the Greater, Apollo, Christ the King, Leechburg, St. Gertrude, Vandergrift, and Our Lady, Queen of Peace, East Vandergrift) chose for their Youth Group. Led by Katie Tylinski, youth ministry coordinator for Region 2, FUSED4 is divided into two grade-governed groups:

  • EDGE (Grades 6-8): is a dynamic faith formation program open to teens in middle school.  The EDGE curriculum uses different forms of media and instruction to teach teens the importance of their Catholic faith during their middle school years.  EDGE meets every Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. James Parish Center, (former St. James School) in Apollo. Additional activities may be added throughout the year.  A youth-directed Mass is scheduled the fourth Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at St. James Church, followed by an after Mass party.  All are invited to the Mass and party.
  • LIFETEEN (Grades 9-12): is a program that brings life to Scripture, the Catechism, and to the Roman Catholic Church for teens in high school.  Different from a classroom environment, LIFETEEN brings the faith of the teenager to life by letting them truly experience Jesus Christ in the Church and in their own lives.  LIFETEEN meets every Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. James Parish Center, (former St. James School), in Apollo.  A youth-directed Mass is scheduled the fourth Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at St. James Church.  All youth are encouraged to participate in the various liturgical ministries; readers, servers, youth band and ushers.  The Youth Mass is followed by an after Mass party (AMP) in the parish hall and is open to everyone.

"XLT" - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held quarterly at St. James the Greater Parish, Apollo, at 6:30 p.m..  The evening includes a guest speaker and the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A light reception follows Adoration and Benediction.  Check the parish bulletin for the next XLT.

FUSED4 CAFE is open to adults (18 years and older).  Parents of the youth ministry participants are encouraged to attend.  At the cafe, (along with delicious desserts), a guest speaker serves up thought-provoking talks and lively discussions!  Check the parish bulletin for the next FUSED4 Cafe event.

Katie Tylinski, Region 2 Director of Faith Formation, is at the St. Gertrude Formation Center (formerly Cardinal Maida Academy) from 9 AM to 4 PM (out for lunch from Noon to 1 PM) Monday through Thursday.  Her cell phone number is 724-212-6740, (she also text messages).  Please call, text or email Katie if you have any questions or if your child is interested in participating in any of the Youth Ministry programs.
