Sacramental Prep for Reconciliation
A child’s initiation into the Catholic faith, which begins
at their Baptism, requires a special level of commitment from both the child and
their parents. As your child approaches the age when the sacramental preparation
process will begin for Reconciliation, it is important for families to understand
the commitment they will undertake over the coming years. Fulfilling this
commitment will lead to the reception of sacraments, which constitute full initiation
of your child into the Catholic faith community.
Families with children in second grade (or
older), who have completed at least one year of class curriculum and who are currently
enrolled in a second grade class are eligible to enter into preparation for the
Sacrament of Reconciliation. Class preparation for sacramental reception is
separate from the general grade level curriculum. Minimally, families attend
weekly Mass and participate fully in the preparation process in the Parish with
prayer and conversation going on in the home. Parent formation sessions are
inclusive with the formation process. For children older than second grade,
please meet with the Coordinator of Elementary Ministry for determination of your
specific needs and circumstances.
