Sacramental Prep for Eucharist
A child’s initiation into the Catholic faith, which begins
at their Baptism, requires a special level of commitment from both the child and
their parents. As your child approaches the age when the sacramental preparation
process will begin for Eucharist (First Communion), it is important for families
to understand the commitment they will undertake over the coming year. Fulfilling
this commitment will lead to the reception of sacraments, which constitute full
initiation of your child into the Catholic faith community.
Families with children in second grade (or older), who have completed
at least one year of class (CCD or Catholic school), who have already celebrated
the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and who are also enrolled in a second grade class
(CCD or Catholic school) are eligible to enter into the process of preparation of
the Sacrament of Eucharist (First Communion). Class participation for Sacramental
reception is the required process in conjunction with weekly Mass attendance and
at-home study, prayer, and conversation. Parent/child formation sessions are inclusive
of the process. For children older than second grade please meet with the Faith
Formation Coordinator for determination of your specific needs and circumstances.
Volunteers Needed
This is on on-going effort in every parish. We at Christ the
King Parish invite and encourage and train and prepare our ministers. If you would
like to volunteer for Elementary Religious Education, Children's Celebration
of the Word, Summer Experience or office assistance, please know we love hearing
from you! Contact Jim if these areas appeal to you. Contact ministry leaders in
other areas if they appeal to you. The parish runs on volunteer efforts. Be fuel
for our community and Volunteer Today!
